DDP Mentor
Remember your first overwhelming semesters as a distance student? Many of our new and returning DDP students need encouragement and advice to help them deal with the academic anxiety they are feeling, the transition to becoming a distance student, and figuring out how to balance all their new and old responsibilities.
How it works: Once you sign up you will be matched with a student with similar interests and, if possible, career goals. Most mentoring takes place via email. You may be matched right away, or it may take a couple of months depending on when we receive a compatible student?s application for a mentor.
Time Commitment: Six months, minimum one email a month
How you can help: Encouragement, transition advice, academic anxiety, DDP hints, study skills, time management, etc. It all depends on the student, and what you feel comfortable with. DDP will also provide you with some helpful resources.
Who can be a mentor?: Any DDP graduate can apply to be a mentor. DDP seniors who will be graduating
within two semesters and have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher may also apply.
Applications are reviewed by a team of DDP staff.
We are constantly in need of new mentors from all majors!
